Start a Recycling Program at Work or School

The City of El Monte’s Environmental Services Division is available to assist any school or business that is interested in initiating a recycling program, or expanding an existing program.  Recycling programs can be implemented for paper, cardboard, CRV containers, glass, wood, toner cartridges, or obsolete electronics. Such programs often serve as a fundraiser for the school or business, and will ultimately reduce disposal costs.
Typically, the City will first conduct a brief waste audit and assess the potential for recycling.  We can then design and recommend a suitable program, assist with logistics, and train participating individuals if necessary.
To discuss recycling options for your school or business, please call (626) 580-2058.
A variety of environmental activities and curriculums for grades K-12 are available through County and State resources.  Schools may inquire by contacting (626) 580-2058.
