The Members of the El Monte Police Department are committed to improving the quality of life in the City of El Monte. We will strive to provide a safe environment and promote security. This will be done in partnership with the community utilizing courtesy and respect.

chief's biography

El Monte Police Chief Jake Fisher joined the El Monte Police Department in 1999, following in the footsteps of his father, Rex, who served as a Detective for EMPD. Chief Fisher was assigned to serve in various capacities over the years which included Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective specializing in child sex crimes investigations, Polygraph Examiner, and Firearms Instructor. Fisher holds 18 years of experience with the City’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit as an operator, sniper, and commander. He previously served as a Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant of the Patrol and Investigations and Captain of the Field Services Division. 

Fisher is a trusted member of the El Monte community as a life-long employee and San Gabriel Valley native. He graduated from Glendora High School in 1993 and earned a bachelor's degree from Murray State University in Kentucky in 1998. In 2019, Chief Fisher earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of La Verne.
