The El Monte Police Department's Gang Unit is responsible for investigating gang related crimes as well as proactive enforcement. The Gang Unit consists of three detectives as well as 12 gang specialists working in conjunction with the community to decrease gang activity and crimes specifically in areas such as schools and parks.
